AC Milan Interested in Signing Shevchenko

Andrei Shevchenko

AC Milan have expressed an interest in having Andrei Shevchenko return to the San Siro. He had previously left to join Chelsea for a record £30m transfer, but has been hampered by injuries and has not lived up to his billing as “greatest striker in the world”.

The managing director of Milan, Adriano Galliani, has repeatedly hinted that he is ready to make an offer to have Shevchenko return in time for next season. Milan have just finished a dismal season, having been beaten to the last Champions League qualifying position by Fiorentina, and were eliminated from the UEFA Cup at the first knockout round.

Shevchenko was by far the most prolific striker in Serie A during his time at Milan, racking up an incredible 127 goals in 208 games - a massive acheivement in such a defensive league.

Chelsea would be likely to accept a hugely reduced offer to what they originally paid for Shevchenko. Although the player himself has close ties to Roman Abramovich, nobody at Chelsea is expecting Andrei to be there for pre-season.
