Chelsea Sack Coach Ten Cate

Today Chelsea confirmed they have fired their first team coach, Ten Cate. This should come as no surprise given that Avram Grant was sacked last week. Didier Deschamps has recently been linked to the job.
Chelsea issued a statement today:
“As a result of the changes, and in light of any forthcoming appointment, it was clear this is the correct decision”
Cate has now claimed that even after Avram Grant was fired, the Chelsea board assured him his job was safe. This latest move would indicate Frank Rijkaard is no longer in contention for the Chelsea manager position, as Cate was Rijkaards assistant when Barcelona in 2006 when they won the Champions League.
