Guus Hiddink Refuses Chelsea Job
May 27, 2008
Guus Hiddink has revealed he will not consider becoming Roman Abramovich’s next manager.
Hiddink was widely believed to be the first choice for the position at Stamford Bridge. His agent, Cees Van Nieuwenhuizen, is now on record saying that Hiddink is planning Russia’s campaign for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Hiddink has not signed an agreement to continue with Russia beyond the Euro 2008 tournament, but everyone now seems confident he will still be in place after it ends.
Hiddink has already taken Holland to a world cup semi-final, and even more impressively he also managed to take South Korea to one too. He is known to be a close friend of Roman Abramovich, who was believed to have been influental in his original appointment by the Russian F.A.
Frank Rijkaard is now believed to be the first choice for the Chelsea manager position after recently leaving Barcelona.
