Jens Lehmann Moves To Stuttgart
June 4, 2008
Jens Lehmann has agreed a one year deal with German Bundesliga team VFB Stuttgart. He moves on a Bosman transfer out of Emirates Stadium after being dropped at the end of last season in favour of Manual Almunia.
Lehmann is still in the German Euro 2008 squad and is expected to be first choice keeper throughout the tournament. Lehmann has previously played in the Bundesliga, for Borussia Dortmund and Schalke.
Armin Vehe (Stuttgart Head Coach) said:
“Jens was our top candidate from the very beginning for the goalkeeper position”
Arsene Wenger will now be searching for a replacement keeper, with the only available backup with any experience being the young Pole, Lukasz Fabianski.
