Gretna only came into the Scottish League system in 2002, and broke all previous records in an incredible 5 years, winning promotion 3 times to get to the Premier Leaugue. This was largely due to owner Brooks Mileson’s millions as he bought his way through each league. Read More

Jose Mourinho Joins Inter Milan

June 3, 2008

Jose Mourinho joins Milan

Jose Mourinho has agreed to join Inter Milan, the current Serie A champions.  He was paraded at a press conference in Milan this morning.

Mourinho revealed he was signed a 3 year deal, which is his first job since leaving Chelsea in late 2007.  Mourinho enters as one Italian legend leaves - Roberto Mancini was sacked, which some fans have called a bizarre move given that they won the Serie A three seasons in a row. It seems European failure led to Mancini’s demise, with inter going out in the last 16 of the  Champions League to Liverpool.

Mourinho has had some success in Europe, and will look to continue that with Inter Milan. He previously guided the unfavoured FC Porto to a UEFA Cup triumph in 2003, then amazingly went one better in 2004 by lifting the Champions League.

The rumours have already started, with Inter Milan now being linked to Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba. Drogba has been widely believed to be leaving anyway, but losing Lampard would be a huge blow to Chelsea.

AC Milan Interested in Signing Shevchenko

May 28, 2008

Andrei Shevchenko

AC Milan have expressed an interest in having Andrei Shevchenko return to the San Siro. He had previously left to join Chelsea for a record £30m transfer, but has been hampered by injuries and has not lived up to his billing as “greatest striker in the world”.

The managing director of Milan, Adriano Galliani, has repeatedly hinted that he is ready to make an offer to have Shevchenko return in time for next season. Milan have just finished a dismal season, having been beaten to the last Champions League qualifying position by Fiorentina, and were eliminated from the UEFA Cup at the first knockout round.
